How a Study7 lesson works
Finding your level
Before your first lesson you take a short placement check. It places you on the Common European Framework of Reference — the A1 to C2 scale used across Europe and increasingly by employers in this region — and recommends where to start.
It takes about fifteen minutes and you only do it once.
Inside a lesson
Context first. Every lesson opens with a situation: a phone call, a conversation at the counter, a message from a colleague. You meet the new language where it is used before you are asked to produce it.
Then practice. Short tasks that check you have understood, not tasks designed to fill time.
Then use. You put the language into a situation of your own. A lesson takes about twenty minutes.
Listening
Our recordings use natural connected speech at normal pace, with a range of accents. Guests at a hotel in Siem Reap do not all speak like a textbook, and neither do our recordings.
Speaking and pronunciation
Speaking tasks let you record your answer and play it back against a model. A separate pronunciation section works on the sounds and stress patterns that are hardest for speakers of Thai, Bahasa, Malay, Tagalog and Khmer.
Vocabulary
Words you meet are saved to a word bank you can come back to. Review it whenever you have five minutes.
Your progress
Study time, lessons completed and words learned are all recorded. Complete a course and you can download a certificate showing what you finished and at what level.
